I don't expect most people to like this---it's what lester would call a "Rev. Powell type movie." Still, I have a special place in my heart for it because I saw it at its world premiere and interviewed to the director and star the next day. It's kind of genius, though not, as you'll see, for everyone. It took four years for it finally to get released and I've been promoting it so long I sort of feel like I "discovered" it. I feel an obligation to spread the word. Anyway, here's my short review, a link to my long review and the trailer:
A pathetic dog-groomer and would-be video artist (who's planning an all-cat remake of CARRIE) meets a beautiful but very strange girl (Sonja Kinski) who is, shockingly, into him. This is underground/avant-garde comedy, filled with grimy "video art" montages, is shocking because of how unexpectedly FUNNY it is; Michael Reich gets the absurd predicament of the struggling weirdo artist just right, using equal parts cruelty and whimsy.
