I read in an interview with Joey Ramone that they got the idea for "1-2-3-4!" from this song....! They were big fans of the Bay city Rollers! And to think I usta rag my sister for listening to this stuff,,,,I guess she was punk before I was......?1?1.... Lookingup
It's actually a shame that they got pegged as a teen scene badn...because they actually were kinda good....!

Supposedly Joey used it as a foundation for Blitzkrieg Bop.  He wanted a song with a chant.  I dunno.

I concur. Personally, I don't think there's such a thing as "good American pop music" in any era since the mid-70's. But I absolutely love the 60's bubblegum pop, greaser pop-rock, and surf rock influences you can hear in many Ramones song. I actually prefer the songs of their's that lean more towards that than towards just the "hard, fast, and loud" punk-type thing. The Ramones are great (I consider them to be in my top 3 favorite bands of all time, right up there with Gwar and Acid Bath) and I love all their songs, but I always gravitate more to songs like "Oh Oh I Love Her So" and "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" and "Rockaway Beach" and "Rock N' Roll High School" than "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" or "Psycho Therapy."

Leonard Bernstein: Chichester Psalms/On the Waterfront

Sample: Chichester Psalms

Chichester Psalms is kind of weird... it's supposed to be a serious piece of sacred music, but I keep hearing that mildly jazzy, showtune style in it... but my preconceptions aren't Bernstein's fault.  I'm starting to think he's a lot better than I ever gave him credit for.

Oh, and the disc also contains a suite from the soundtrack of "On the Waterfront".

You definitely can hear the '60s pop influence.  I quite love all the 'oldie' type stuff, as far as music goes.  Which is probably a big reason I love the Ramones.  I like their harder stuff as well, but when you hear a song like "Rockaway Beach" and hear a cool '60s style riff, it's great.

Yes you do love the Oldies.  Punk as a movement, like Glam, was based on the love for the '50s and '60s singles.
I'm listening to JOBRIATH because I have a habit of wearing records out.
