(Apologies to Chester A. Riley there.)
Hey, since you guys are like family to me----family I don't have to financially support and love---I thought I'd let you be the fourth thru thirty-seventh people to know of something nice that just happened in the Ellieverse!
Y'all know my cousin who lives with us, right? (The one who....? Yes, him.)
Well last night I was talking to him down in his room and he has this cup there, like a forty-four ounce plastic cup you get at the Kwiky-Mart for eighty-nine cents? It's so old it has Solo: A Star Wars Story Coming May 25, 2018 featured on it, and I got on him last night because in teenage fashion he never washes it, just refills it and keeps drinking from it.
I told him that was ger-oss and bacteria was building up around the rim, probably jungle rot or stecci botrytis, his lips were going to turn white and peel off and people who are Buffy-literate would start calling him a Gentleman (a reference he got), and he said why I'm the only one drinking out of it, he really believed that made it okay, and they whole situation was a giant ewwww.
Okay, well, it's his half-day off work and like ten minutes ago I got a video from him, showing he'd finally washed the cup for the first time EVER ('To make you happy") ....and that he'd put two-hundred dollars from his very first paycheck on his new job, on the table for me!
WHOA! "Sponsatillity" at last?
I called him back and said, you don't have to give me money, you don't rent from us, you live there, and he said yeah, but you've always taken care of me, so I hope you get yourself something nice with that money.
Then he said: "I love you."
He loves me.....!
I mean jeeeeeeesle, talk about having to hold back tears. He's nineteen, he rarely tells his mother he loves her, and I rated an I love you.
So now I'm deciding what to do with two hundred smackers, and in typical motherly masochism, all I can think is what I can buy my children with it.
It's been a good day so far.
