What are yours?
Mine-

1. WHITE ZOMBIE (1931) - No flesh eating here. The first zombie movie ever made was also (in my opinion) the BEST. With Bela Lugosi.
2. NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968)
3. BURIAL GROUND: NIGHTS OF TERROR (1981)-"Mother, this cloth-it smells of death!"
4. RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (1985) Punk Rock zombies!
5. the GATES OF HELL (1984) aka CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD
6. ZOMBIE (1979)
7. DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978)
8. DAY OF THE DEAD (1985)
9. DR. BUTCHER M.D. (1980) aka ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST
10. PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE (1959)

Interviewer-"Does Dracula ever end for you?
Lugosi-"No. Dracula-never ends."

Right now I'll say:

1-3.) DAWN OF THE DEAD '04
NIGHT OF THE CREEPS
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD
Alphabetized - my preference shifts a lot.

4.) 28 DAYS LATER (still need to see the sequel)

5.) DAWN OF THE DEAD '78 (yeah, okay, when pressed to commit, I do absolutely prefer '04 to the original... but this is still pretty great)

Honorable Disqualification: NIGHT OF THE COMET. I probably like this more than '78 even but the "zombies" are waaay to the human side of 28DL's rage zombies.

I struggle to think of another 5 that belong w/ these five. I liked BUSAN a lot but only saw it once. I like the original DAY OF THE DEAD a lot, too, but "Bub" is a turn-off. Looks great but too silly for a bleak screamo zombie apocalypse. Original NOTLD is a film I enjoy thinking about, but it's hard for me to get through it one more time. An admirable museum piece.
