I love that album.

Oh, and just recently picked up this:

I really want to like this record but I just don't see much of the appeal.  There seem to be a few decent songs; I like Sunday Morning, I'm Waiting for the Man, All Tomorrow's Parties, and The Black Angel's Death SongHeroin is cool for a couple minutes.  I respect its historical importance, but what the heck am I missing?

Facelift by Alice in Chains

A truly underrated band that was often overshadowed by Nirvana.

Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits
Hey, Happy, if you can stand the cow with its leg caught in a fence, you could stand the cat getting neutered...  Wink  Try Decade for variety.  For pure perfect NEIL, try After The Goldrush but only if you can handle folky blues, handmade, homespun, and unexpected.  I think most people agree if that's not his one, than it is close to it.  Listen for his tunes.  Listening to a singer/songwriter is... different than listening to a Pop artist, or "good singer".  NEIL can't sing, and his package could be troubling, I see. You're right to recognize him as a songwriter... I can't help but bust the chops of those I'm fondest of.

"I'm only waiting til the mornin' comes, til the mornin' comes, til the mornin comes..."
In honor of Happy and my hope you'll find NEIL YOUNG, 'cause I read your posts and know you have good taste.  Now:

...and the archer split the tree, there was a fanfare blowing to the sun ,there was floating on the breeze, look at Mother Nature on the run in the 1970s...I was lyin' in a burned out basement with the full moon in my eyes, I was hopin' for a replacement when the sun burst thru the sky... there was a band playin' in my head... think'in about what a friend had said I was hopin' it was a lie...

I'm sure eventually I'll listen to Neil.  It took me years to listen to Dylan, as well as ZZ Top and a couple of other bands.  I like a couple of Neil songs, but, I don't know if it's strong enough to warrant a whole album.  Much like Bon Jovi.  I like a couple of songs, but wouldn't buy a whole album.

The sound.  Perhaps this record is no longer so unique 'cause so many records since borrowed from it...
I'm listening to it right now.

Venus in Furs and Femme Fatale.

Try coming back to it every now and then.  I didn't think it was great at first, but it grows on you.
