This really is just about the best bad movie I think I've ever seen.  I mean, it is bad:  the dialogue ,acting, and plot are extremely cliched and hackneyed.  The title is false, there is no chopping the attacks are done via killer robots who shoot and are fought back with guns and a variety of panicked idosynractic methods not involveing an axe or blade of any kind.  Most absurd though is the inconceivable plot,  robots straight out of Dr Who or Buck Rogers using technology that doesn't even yet exist today are buoght buy someone to patrol a mall late after closing.  robots tht have the ablity to kill.  My guess (without looking) is that this movie is canadian because only socialists could consider such an obviously bad idea workable enough to present as possible in a movie.

The cast includes the alex P keaton rip off kid from "head of the class" who has a more arvid ingen like nerd role here.  He has a blind date with the other lead a cute blonde how looks like that girl who was married to heath ledger from "Dawsons Creek".    pretentious independent film makers (and critics)  should be forced to watch this again and again till they get the message.  Cheers

This is one that I've always wanted to see.  Years ago, one of my friends rented this and HACK O'LANTERN and said they made an entertaining bad movie double feature.

a get back to yuor roots bad movie.   the robots do this actually sort of scary clicking thing with their little fingers when they are giong to attack someone.  the whole idea of being in a mall after closing is thrilling.  especially an 80's mall.

This one is a personal favorite of mine. It's got one of the most unintentionally hilarious exploding head shots this side of Deadly Friend!

I watched this back in the 1990s on Cinemax and was unimpressed.  Then I kept running into appraisals like this one that said it was a great bad movie.  Maybe I need to watch it again.  I could have been in the wrong mood the first time I saw it (it happens).

Indeed that's the most memorable part to me. Caught this again awhile back on tv as 'Killbots'  Question Chopping Mall was a much better title.

Netflix finally got it.  I've been checking since I joined Netflix and couldn't find it.  Somehow this movie has always been slightly out of my grasp.  I've missed screenings of it.  I've seen it in stores when I didn't have money.  I know I could have always gone online to order it, but that would have been too easy (plus, I wasn't that eager).

Anyways, I finally got to see it Tuesday afternoon.

I wasn't disappointed.  I mean it was stupid, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.  The head explosion was definitely memorable.

One of my old favorites.  Just brimming with '80s charm and cheese.  Characters were fun and likable, the plot was like, "let's do robots, they'd be so cool!", and partying in an '80s mall after the place closes - sweet!

Actually, I rented this one along with Deadly Friend back in the 80s. Made an interesting double feature.

And, just for clarification, Chopping Mall (originally titled Killbots) is a 100 per cent American film, shot at the Sherman Oaks Galleria in Los Angeles. Canadian horror films are much better, along the lines of Black Christmas, Scanners, Videodrome, Watchers, Terror Train, Prom Night, Cube, etc., just to name a few off the top of my head. I'm actually amazed by how much of the slasher genre came out of Canada in the 80s.

Great little film, really 80's and really cool. I always love mall settings, especially at night too. I've only just got this on DVD and hadn't seen it in yonks! The version I have is about 77mins long, with no menu or extra, features. You just pop it in and the film starts. I'm not fussed, plus I'm getting a nice Kelli Maroney collection going now...  TongueOut

P.S. I must say that Suzee Slater must have the most gorgeous looking breasts I have ever witnessed on screen.  Twirling
