This is one of the 3 infamous movies that Roger Corman made (on shoestring budgets) in Puerto Rico.  There is . . . and let me be VERY CLEAR about this . . . ABSOLUTELY NO REASON WHATSOEVER TO WATCH THIS MOVIE.

Here is the plot (BEWARE OF SOME SPOLIERS - - AS IF YOU REALLY CARE!):

A criminal, his wife (or is it his girlfriend???? . . . I can't remember and it doesn't really matter anyway) and his lawyer all go scuba diving off the coast of Puerto Rico.  When they come to the surface, they discover that everyone is dead (apparently, from a sudden lack of oxygen).  They walk around with their oxygen tanks on until they realize that the plants have replenished the oxygen supply and they can all breathe!  Whew!

The rest of the movie is a lot of boring talk.

Interesting note:  Robert Towne (who later went on to write some excellent screenplays such as CHINATOWN, THE PARALLAX VIEW, and THE LAST DETAIL) wrote the script AND co-stars as the lawyer.

I've had a few chances to pick this up, but have not due to reviews around the web, but since it is a Corman film I'll have to check it out some day. Maybe on one of those cheapie multi-packs.

Spoilers?
That's just the first fifteen or twenty minutes, followed by an accurate description of whatever the heck the rest of this movie was about.
Though there is that scene where Martin tries to hit it off with a dead woman he finds on the beach.

I must admit, they really get ya' with that opening title sequence.

Scott:

This movie is part of the HORROR CLASSICS 50 MOVIE PACK.  So, if you absolutely MUST see it, the 50 movie pack is probably the cheapest way to go.

I've had that pack for a while now, and didn't even know this movie was in there.  I guess I'm gonna have to break it out tonight and watch it, despite Burgo's warnings.

Actually, I downloaded this movie for free from the Internet Archive.

The quality is pretty bad, but there are quite a few public domain movies on the site.

Actually, it is not too surprising that Robert Towne worked for Roger Corman, before Towne became famous. If you look at all the people, both in front and behind the camera, who worked for Corman, before they became famous, it looks like a Who's Who in Hollywood, as Corman had a good eye for talent and was almost an one-man school for filmmakers.

Actually, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH is one of my "guilty pleasures."  But I think the remake (THE OMEGA MAN) is much more fun to watch.
