Looks like they are going to be busy in Cape Town this year. According to the article
"The news was welcomed with much excitement as this is yet another major boost for the City of Cape Town (COCT) after it has already authorised 1 017 film shoots permits, 181 for the month of January alone."
Also, and according to another relative article, the City of Cape Town launch a website to "promotional campaigns to let international clients know that the Cape Town film collective is open for business and that the technology for remote filming, are available."

Indeed: we've been making movies since before Hollywood and we have the 5th oldest film industry in the world and the oldest in Africa. The biggest centres for filmmaking here are Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Been some huge movies made here over the years, including Zulu, The Wild Geese and more recently, much of Avengers Age of Ultron was filmed in Johannesburg.
Part of my job involves looking after the films which are made here.
