Just read Neville's post about Platoon and it got me thinking about a film that I saw a small portion of a few years ago.  It was a Vietnam flick that looked to be made in the 80s.  I don't remember much, and I didn't catch a whole lot of it but I do remember that the group of soldiers thought they were going to get leave but ended up in a soccer match.

This ring any bells with anyone?  Seemed like a decent film, might want to track it down and see it all the way through.

Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

Could it have been The Boys in Company C? I haven't seen it, but it matches the general description you give.

Derf,

You got it.  That looks to be the one.  I'll have to see if Netflix has it.

Thanks!

I saw that one years ago, I can confirm it's "The boys in company C". Pretty good film.

'Boys In Company C' strangely was released before 'Apocalypse Now'. It's definitely a different kind of Vietnam movie that's for sure. I really dig the whole angle of the soccer match. I like the cast in it too - Andrew Stevens, Michael Lembeck, Craig Wasson, and Ermey, among others.

When I first saw it I though it was a "Platoon" knock-off, it was later that I knew it had been done many years before.

BTW, do any of you remember this other 'Nam movie with Michael Dudikoff? I think it was made by Cannon and that one was indeed a "Platoon" imitation. It was called "Platoon leader". I remember watching it on TV on my teens and thinking it was pretty good for a B-movie. I'd like to see it again.
