My blu-ray player streams Netflix. I'm seriously considering getting rid of cable entirely. If Netflix just had a slightly better selection of TV shows, I would make the jump.
I never bothered to sign up for cable again last time I moved, about a year and a half ago. The only thing I miss about cable is the daily shows, like
The Daily Show, and other weeklies like
Dirty Jobs and
Mythbusters. Also, with Netflix you miss the "what happens next week?" phenomenon, because you only get shows when they're released on DVD (except for a few exceptions).
Of course, there are a ton of free viewing options online. Plus, you can buy TV shows to watch and download as well.
Lost episodes on Zune are $3 a pop for HD. Too pricey in my opinion, but my house pays for it. Why pay extra for television I'll never watch?
Also, broadcast television is always available, but even the HD signal looks pretty bad.
