"Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2; Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini."  Soloist: Cecile Licad.

AHD: Don't hate on Rach just because Eric Carmen stole his melody for the weepy "All By Myself."  Wink

Hey, when did I ever hate on RACHMANINOFF?  I don't hate on CHOPIN because of BARRY MANILOW's "Could This Be Magic"!  (Maybe the first 45 I ever bought...  Lookingup)

I kind of leapt to the conclusion that this was the piece you were taking about when you called Rach "treacly."  (http://www.badmovies.org/forum/index.php?topic=127655.0)

Hmmm... one's words certainly do live forever on the web, though I figured you'd be like me, mining old threads.  I guess whatever I heard that day was "treacly" and I am no RACHMANINOFF fan, but no, I wasn't listening to that "All By Myself" inspiration piece (which I had and might still have around here somewhere on vinyl) of that, I'm sure, as I'm familiar with it.   And it was STEPHEN KING in "The Stand" who referred to DEBUSSY as "syrupy" aside from wherever else I must have read that.  Don't like Opera, REV?

Well, "Nessun Dorma" is one of my favorite pieces of music.   Smile  For an open minded guy, you can be rather provincial.   TongueOut

I recognize it as quality music, I just don't personally take to the sound of the opera-trained voice.
