As you all know, Dad (and Mom) was my mentor when it comes to films by the simple act of dragging me into a horrible place called THE THEATER / THE CINEMA when I was seven
but there is one thing I've never told anyone here. Dad was a street thug (or
tsotsi as we call them here) in his teens and was turned around by a judge who gave him a choice between jail and the armed forces: Dad went to the army and his life changed.
What is odd is that Dad used to mug people for money as a teen and then, almost thirty years later, he became a cop!
I'm looking at his picture on my desk now and smiling.
