Ray Brown & Laurindo Almeida, Moonlight Serenade

Sample: Mondscheinsonate / Round about midnight  Unfortunately the sample ends before the bowed bass starts playing "Round midnight" over the Beethoven figure.  But it's uncannily beautiful when it does.

So it should be!!  You will not be sorry, but you must love great songs and how they are written, as well as great acoustic guitar and personal vocal expression of rare caliber, better even than SINATRA ever was (and he was the best).  You referenced it, so now I'm listening to it, one of the greatest recordings of the 20th century, definitely belongs in the top 35:




RAY BROWN... sounds good but I haven't heard that one.  LAURINDO, however, is always great.   Thumbup karma, REV.

I found this of interest while looking at ROLLING STONES videos on youtube...it's 1964...in Kurhaus...wow. And you thought punk audiances were crazy?

...now...this song gives me bittersweet memories of when I was a little kid...listening to the radio..as Dad drove us from a foster home in NY to one in Indiania...

LOU CHRISTIE Lightenin' Strikes (went to #1 in January 1966) youtube link; LOU had 5 top 40 hits including 3 top 10.  There wasn't a vintage clip, though LOU's surprisingly decent 40 years on:

Ahhhh...LIghtining Srikes.....yes! I can hear it on my transistor radio....flipping through an old CREEPY comic under the light of the full moon in my room in Indiana shining through the window...squinting to  read ads for 6'foot Frankenstein posters and 8mm monster movies...sigh..this one too....

...our 'group' leader in the orphange took us to see the Yellow Submarine while we were in the Catholic Orphange. (I'll bet people think I'm making this sh!t up.) He was a Jesus Freak with an afro. SiIster Nina used to sneak me and Mike into her quarters...and we would watch 'NIGHT GALLERY". I wonder where they are now?
