Another smooth jazz album, mixing traditional jazz, lots of funk, and a couple of blues songs.  Gerald is a bass player, and surprisingly doesn't really overplay on any of the songs.  He's fond of his 6 string bass, so this really gives the subwoofer a good workout when he gets down on that low B string.  Overall pretty good, the songs aren't really showpieces for any sort of solo playing, but there are some strong melodies and it tends to draw me into the music because of the variety and imagination on display.

Jeez, you don't really think about how LONG their songs are until you hear Axl Rose screaming in your ear for 80 blistering minutes in a row.  Good songs though.

This is performed on a gi-normous organ at some Gothic Cathedral.  I've heard it said that Bach shouldn't be played on a huge organ, and I guess now I know why.  Those huge pipes take a little while to fill with air and begin resonating, so those intricate bass lines tend to lag behind by varying degrees.  The Toccata and Fugue in D Minor seems to have such obvious phrasing, yet everyone who performs it seems to have to take a massive dump on it.  This guy isn't as bad as some, but he still makes a minor mess out of it.  The fugue was really nice, just a couple bars of notes slurred together at one point.   You also get the Concerto No. 2 in A Minor, the Prelude and fugue in B minor and the Prelude and Fugue in D Major.  A nice mix of his early and late stuff.  Overall the majesty of this organ makes it worth the purchase.  The compositions themselves are fantastic.
