"Hm." Short and sweet, not questioning really, as one might with "hmm".  I definitely approve, but had forgotten you saw Dylan a year or so ago...?  I'd expect BOB DYLAN to be like WOODY ALLEN around here, with few adherents.   Thumbup

Yeah, I saw Dylan last summer.  Heck, sometimes I think you're the only one here who even recognizes half the music I listen to, much less would give it a chance.  (Pilgermann's often in that category too).

Hoping this might help me feel "cool":

"December" by George Winston

It didn't.

I know it's corny, but after positng Buddy Holly in the "Favorite Dead Rock Stars" thread in Off Topic, I downloaded Don McLean's American Pie yesterday, and I can't stop playing it over and over. I love that song. It's been an on and off thing since I was a teenager. I'll forget about it, sometimes for long stretches, then rediscover it and play it out until forgetting about it again. An endless cycle. But what a brilliant song, with many interpretations of the meaning over the years. Don McLean has never offered an interpretation and has repeatedly refused to do so. In the midst of it's initial run of success, he was asking the meaning of the song and he replied: "it means I never have to work again."

DON McLEAN's entire album American Pie is classic; I usually skip the title song, and often "Vincent", but I love songs like "Crossroads" and "Sister Fatima" and "Til Tomorrow" in fact I love that whole album (except maybe the title song).

Now: DON McLEAN American Pie

Michael Kamen - Concerto for Saxophone
Features David Sanborn on sax through the whole thing, and Eric Clapton and David Gilmour lend a hand on a couple of tracks.  The main piece here is somewhat repetative in its melody, but it's rather dynamic and I really enjoy it.  The other stuff is a kind of orchestral pop rock or something, and the last track is from Kamen's score to Brazil which is a cool way to end the album.

"Innova 2010: Music with Sound."  Sampler of highly non-commercial avant-garde classical and even some jazz.  I eat this stuff up!
