One more I think early 2008:
A clumsy forklift driver at my warehouse job spun in place a little too quickly and didn't tilt his forks backwards enough. A pallet flew off and landed square on my foot/ankle. He apologized, clearly feeling bad, and I didn't get super angry at him or feel anything amiss until-- of course-- I got home. Then the pain hit me in full force. I didn't want to try to go to the hospital in the middle of the night so I just iced it up and tried to sleep through the pain. It was the worst pain I'd felt outside of a dentist office. The following morning my stepmom and brother helped me get to the hospital and get x-rays and a foot cast/crutches. I only got 2 days off though-- I wanted more, but I did heal up pretty quick.
And 2019:
A stupid driver hit me shortly after coming home from work one night-- he did a "California stop" at the stop sign as I was walking across and he nailed me. My foot ended up being busted but my adrenaline kept me from noticing or feeling pain and I angrily confronted the driver. They did get out to make sure I was okay but they clearly didn't understand they were in the wrong. I was a fool not to call the cops but I was sure I was okay, being able to walk and not feel pain. By the time I got home I could hardly walk. I had to miss a few weeks from work I think, and had to use crutches and a boot in the meantime. I still have them (though the foot is okay now).
Also, went on vacation with my folks, sister and brother to Chicago. Great deep dish pizza and impressively tall buildings (we stayed at a hotel right by the Willis Tower). But the streets stunk with trash and the humidity and the traffic was awful, and some of the people were unbelievably rude.
Re-visiting 2021:
1. Busted my hand at work in a really stupid accident. Punched a door after a close loss involving my football team. Hairline fracture. Missed a few days of work and had to wear a brace for a month or so. Annoying.. I had to go to THREE different health care centers to get the first cast, get a replacement cast, and get the cast off! Did a restaurant review of some cool restaurants that had recently popped up a few blocks from my house, with the brace on:
2. Got DANGEROUSLY, VIOLENTLY ILL twice this year! Major food poisoning, I'd guess.. I got sick the same exact way each time-- constant machine gun poops every 15 minutes or so, and a brief bout of dizzy spells-- I actually fell to the floor and had to lay there for a full minute before I could get up again. I eventually was able to force myself to barf the sickness up, but I had to be off work for a couple days.
3. For my belated birthday my folks, brothers and I went to my brother's friend's house in Portland a little ways past Ross Island. It reached a record 114 or 116 degrees that day! Thank God he had great air conditioning.
4. Texas, Florida and Mississippi are the first states to end all mask mandates.

10. Legendary sports play-by-play announcer Marv Albert retires.
11. Mike Richards and Mayim Balik are the new permanent hosts of JEOPARDY!. They split the daytime and prime time/spinoff hosting duties.
12. Black Ohio teen Ma'Khia Bryant brandishes a knife and advances threateningly towards 2 women. She is shot to death by policeman Nicholas Reardon. NBA star LeBron James posts a picture of the cop and tweets "You're next".
