I guess POLICE SQUAD is the daddy of these?

my personal favourite is GARTH MARENGHI'S DARKPLACE... 2004. only 6 episodes. sends up bad 80s horror / action brilliantly. highly recommended.

in the 90s I enjoyed FUNKY SQUAD. Australian parody of 70s cop shows... re-watched a couple of episodes again recently on youtube. hasn't held up too well, but it's hard to dislike.

just discovered FRESNO... 1986. just 5 episodes. a send up of soaps like DYNASTY / DALLAS etc

whutchu got?

Sledgehammer and Cop Rock are two that come to mind.

ok, guess I'll do the leg work here  Smile

The Last Precinct

1986.
"Chronically underrated police spoof with likable Perpich as a modest uniformed cop labouring thanklessly with his ragtag colleagues" (from an imdb review... imdb description does not explicitly state it's a spoof)

Quote
Night Stand with Dick Dietrick

1995
"a satire of Jerry Springer/ Ricki Lake sleaz-oid talk shows"

^ sounds like  US version of KNOWING ME KNOWING YOU, which I loved... will have to check this out!

Danger Theater (1993)

"a parody of action tv shows"

watched some on youtube... pretty well done, a bit NAKED GUN stylee....

Sledgehammer

1986
"This show is a great parody of 70's and 80's police movies and TV shows."

vaguely remember this title from my childhood but wasn't aware it was a spoof... watched a bit on youtube. very on the nose!

Quote
Cop Rock

1990
cop show crossed with a musical

Small | Large

really have no idea what to make of this!

the POW! KABAAM! one? never actually thought about it but I guess it's very spoof like, however being probably my first ever exposure to Batman, I thought that's what it was meant to be... (if u see what I mean?)

THE DAY TODAY (1994)
BRASS EYE (1997)

two satirical news broadcast type progs from uk... they style was cutting edge graphics and sharp investigative documentary type stuff, but the subject matter was akways ridiculous and made up.

in BRASS EYE they even duped actual celebrities into participating, thinking they were campaigining for various causes, such as warning about 'heavy electricity' falling out of wires

Yeah, it's definitely a parody, but as a kid I didn't get it either.

Interesting didn’t know that

Possibly why Batman as a ‘serious’ character has never quite sat right with me… (well that and the fact he’s a grown man wearing a bat suit  Smile)

"Fernwood 2 Night" was a parody of talk shows. It was a spin-off of "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" which was a soap opera parody.
