(Or, in keeping with the reviews and T-shirts: Lessons Learned at Badmovies.org)
Many of our contributors have quite a knack with words. While catching up on the various forums, the odd (*ahem*) line or phrase tends to jump out at me. It can be humourous or profund, a gag or a truism, but it is usually short, pointed and eminently quotable.
Of course this sort of thing is familiar to us all through Andrew's reviews and the discussions of what to put on the Badmovies.org T's way back when:
http://www.badmovies.org/forum/index.php/topic,17948.0.htmlExamples:
Fruit bats are, strangely enough, carnivorous. (The Abominable Dr. Phibes)
Dinosaur is Latin for "stuff glued on lizard." (Vampire Men of the Lost Planet)
If it looks like a man-eating plant then it probably is a man-eating plant. (The Angry Red Planet)
You have not had a bad day until you are flash-burned and then attacked by a swarm of angry bees. (Cherry 2000)
Women do not mind when their boyfriends sing about other girls. (Eegah!)
The sun rises faster in Japan, probably because it is closer to the east. (Gamera vs. Gaos)
Sweat-soaked shirts burn easily and make excellent torches. (Squirm)
The difference here is that I was thinking we could collect the gems that crop up day-to-day in the postings. While quite often we show our appreciation by awarding a karma point, I'd like to collect the best for the purpose of sharing the joy.
For example:
"Best to keep flaming things away from your head" - Mofo Rising/Ear Candling
- with or without the author credited and the thread referenced.
So: what have you learned at Badmovies.org today? What noteworthy utterances would you like to share; to perpetuate and disseminate? (Some of them may even improve their laugh factor out-of-context!)
