Not sure of the date, but she was born in 1909. I'm guessing the photo was taken in the late '20s to early '30s, at the latest.
Although a Kansas native she began her professional acting career in a city in New Mexico. In a nod to this fact the city was famously the home town of her character in her most popular role.

I've always heard Lucille Ball was intimidated by Vance's looks and had in written into Vance's contract she was to always keep about twenty extra pounds on her and was never supposed to look more glamorous than Lucy.

Cool. Yeah, I've watched all of the I love Lucy shows. How about this beautiful woman... I know her best from her B/W mid 60's TV series.   Look into her eyes. You'll KNOW who she is... |
