Joe D'Amato's BEYOND THE DARKNESS is part of the "Psycho Killer Triple Feature" from Shriek Show (which is quickly becoming one of my favorite DVD companies). The other movies in this set are Ruggero Deodato's HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK and Lamberto Bava's DELIRIUM. All are presented in widescreen format.
BEYOND THE DARKNESS is about a taxidermist whose fiancee dies, so he digs up her body and brings it to his workshop. He pulls out her intestines, eats her heart, sticks tubes up her nose and pumps out her brains, replaces her eyeballs with glass eyes, and stuffs her. Now that's true love!
Other gory scenes include:
* A woman getting her fingernails pulled out with pliers.
* A woman having her throat bitten out.
* An eyeball being pulled out of its socket during a fight.
* Several stabbings.
Like many similar Italian movies from the same time period, the music is by GOBLIN.
This is a decent gore fest. If you haven't seen it, you might want to give it a try.
