Dumb as it sounds, my brother got his hands on a Beta player, and now he's found a lot of stuff I haven't seen elsewhere. He got Conquest the other week, I can't wait to see it! Do you have Betas lurking somewhere in your domain as well?

Well, I was at a Goodwill the other day and had a chance to pick up a copy of BREAKIN' and BREAKIN' 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO on Beta.  I didn't though, because what the hell would I do with them?  They'd just be little status icons in my trash collection.  Things I show off to people but can never do anything with.  Like my Paco Taco figurine.

It's a shame though.  Same store also had a copy of SHOCK TREATMENT.

I remember at one point (around '91) my brother owned both a Beta and a VHS, back when that was considered a pricey entertainment center. Anywho, he had lots of flicks on VHS, but he reserved the Beta for special fare: The Star Wars trilogy, the Star Trek films (only five at the time, if you can imagine), Dune, and all the other sci-fi epics. He said the Beta resolution was better and these were widescreen editions, which was astonishing back then. Ah, the good old days. When the only way we could get our favorite flicks was on poor video transfers and they cost a bundle, to boot. The jump from that to DVD seems like lightyears. We truly are blessed by the Movie Gods.
