if you want to see a book of yours made into a movie, indy, and given your passion for history I'd recommend writing a book about the CSS Albemarle, the "Bismark of the civil war".
The story of the CSS albemarle is as interesting as the story of the monitor and the virginia, and more so than the story of the bismark.
The Albemarle was built in a cornfield with confiscated iron like frying pans, horseshoes, nails, even slave chains. She became such a menace to the union on the riverways that Lincoln himself ordered her destruction. (The Bismark of the civil war) For a brief time she was powered by bacon fat when her smokestack was shot off and the coal woulnd't burn with fresh air. She could not be beaten in over combat with union forces so a commando raid was pulled off with a specially deigned weapon that was nearly suicidal to use.
The story of the Albemarle would make for an excellent movie with action, combat, intrigue, tension and all of it historically accurate. Plus it has guy with confederate flags getting their asses kicked.
