How could they say it was bad? The duck costume....its sucked like a black hole! The way howie was in the comic was like Donald Duck in terninal p**s off mode. He had a "tude, and was not afraid to show it.
In the film....good lines listlessly delivered, with a rotten image of the duck. Waagh!
Now if they had shown him as Louie DePalma with feathers!......

Howard the Duck is a bad movie, but it is NOT an enjoyable bad movie. I found it to be nearly UNWATCHABLE.

donfan, I'm sure you're a nice guy and all, but Howard is one of the very very few -- I can only think of 4 -- movies that I just outright walked out of the theater on.
Well, there are even people in this world who genuinely like ROBOC.H.I.C., so I'm not surprised someone likes Howard --
I agree with that Danny DeVito would've made an excellent Duck.  Too bad they chickened out on the attitude . . .

I liked it too. I mean c'mon can a movie that shows Lea Thompson in her underwear be all that bad?

I'm in the minority that likes this movie. My friends and I used to quote lines from the diner scene all the time.

"She took my eggs!"

"He musta' had the chile!"

I've always liked this movie and always will.  It was a childhood favorite, and I still watch it once every year or two.

I'm inclined to agree with Flange. I was looking forward to seeing the Howard from the comics brought to the screen - a grouchy little cigar-chomping smartass in a cheap suit. Instead, the character was turned into a yuppie wuss, and the duck suit was way too cute.

Howard the Duck was, is, and will always be, completely unwatchable, even by young children and fans of bad movies. Howard is bad in a very unpleasant way.
