I'm a sad example. The only actor that I have made a point to try to view everything that they were in is Clint Eastwood. I did a good run with Chuck Bronson and Bruce Willis but Clint is the only one that I've seen about 95% of his movies.

Vincent Price
Boris Karloff
Christopher Lee
Peter Cushing
Peter Lorre
Johnny Depp
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Sylvester Stallone

Kurt Russell
Alec Guiness
Sean Connery

and of course

KATE BECKINSALE

I've had to pare your list down some and had little to add.  Mostly I don't follow particular actors or directors.  I tend to be a genre watcher, rather than a particular actor watcher.  Then again, the movies I watch tend to feature the same actors....

Wow what a list!

I'm kind of like Shadowphile, where I'll watch certain genres rather than deliberately search out for the films of the particular director/actor/screenwriter.

For example, I like a lot of Spielberg's films, but I don't go and watch them because he made them [I haven't seen any of his recent ones except for AI and War of the Worlds.]

Usually it's just a curious chance that a film may include a favourite composer etc.

But, as a creature of habit, I do enjoy and usually pick up a film because of a certain name, but that name is usually behind the scenes.

I find that even the classiest actor can still make a terrible film, so as such if the film has a good reputation and has a certain actor I'll watch it, but I won't go crazy over the new 'De Niro masterpiece' just because he is in it.

I'm kind of making a distinction between listing names I am a fan of [which would be a large, large list] and people whose name leads me to seek out a certain film.

Therefore there aren't many actors on my list [and those that make it are there mainly because I am interested in seeing many of the films they were in] so most are people who are behind the scenes, since that is usually the starting point in attracting me to a certain film:

Michael Mann
David Cronenberg
George Romero
David Lynch [a recent addition, since for years the only Lynch film I saw was Dune, but recently have delved more into his work with particular enthusiasm]
Akira Kurosawa
Roger Corman
Alex Proyas
Ridley Scott
Quinten Tarantino [but mainly because I'm a slave to his pop-culture post modern style]
Robert Rodriguez [not counting his kids movies]
Dario Argento [and by extension, his daughter Asia, but not really because of her acting skill!]
Jack Palance
David Fincher
John Carpenter [though mainly his early work more than anything]
Ed Wood
Joss Whedon
Roger Avary
Martin Scorsese
Jeff Goblum
Dan O'Bannon
Jackie Chan
Tony Leung
Steven Soderbergh
Jim Jarmusch
Mamoru Oshii
Crispin Glover
Peter Cushing
Vincent Price
Boris Karloff
Ekin Cheng
Hayao Miyazaki
Peter Chung
Hideaki Anno

Well I think that's a large enough list for the moment...

Ah, John Waters and Bruce Campbell, how could I forget them!!

Scott, you really have a huge list, but I really shouldn't be surprised by that at all, what with your movie watching prowess!

Hehe, we could always do the opposite for this as well: what names do you like to avoid? :-P

Hey ya,
Im new to the board, but I have a name that you might want to start following.... Rob Zombie. I just watched Satan's Rejects, and it was pretty cool. Had a great twist to it. I really like his comics also. Also there is a movie soon to be made based on an Orson Scott Card book called Ender's Game. You guys might like it. There is an entire Ender series... hope they make them all into movies. As far as the list you guys have made... I will do my best to check out all the names I haven't heard of before.

Wow, what a coincidence!  Somebody mentions starting a list of Directors to avoid and somebody else mentions Rob Zombie.  It's too much of a coincidence.

I also try to avoid Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lopez and Jack Nicholson.
