By Sword. By Pick. By Axe. Bye Bye.

I think it was Trek who brought the Shatner DVD club to our attention a couple of weeks ago.  After reading the post about the service, I went ahead and signed up for the free trial.  The website said that my DVD would be delivered in about a week or two.  I signed up on the 30th of December, and received the DVD on Saturday.

The DVD case is certainly nothing special.  It is a small cardboard square with Shat's picture on the front.  You tear off a small piece of security tape, and the square unfolds, with the DVD slipped inside.  I opened the case, excited to see what was inside.

I slipped out the DVD to find that it was.......

Wolves Of Wall Street.

My heart died a bit at that point.  I couldn't imagine people actually paying 4 dollars a month for this.  Wolves Of Wall Street?  I've never even heard of it.

I then went to the IMDB and read about the film.  Apparently it's terrible.  At this point, I reopened the case, and was about to slide the DVD back in when something caught my attention.  In the case, there was a piece of paper in with the DVD.  Under that sheet of paper was another, second, DVD.

Ginger Snaps.

I was extremely happy to see that DVD sitting there.  I've been a huge fan of Ginger Snaps since I caught it on one of the premium channels a couple of years back.  I've been meaning to buy it on DVD, but the Shat saved me the trouble.

It seems that sometimes, the DVD club will ship a main feature to you (Ginger Snaps) and then also send a second, free DVD (Wolves) that has something to do with the feature.  Both are about werewolves, so that makes sense.

I might actually keep this service.  If I'm not mistaken, it's only 4.00 a month.  I'm more than pleased with the first DVD, so I might just keep the subscription.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

Wolves of Wallstreet-

This is in my top 5 of worst I've ever seen. This movie was so bad that it wasn't even good. A werewolf movie with no wolves. There were lots of full moons shown, lots of moaning and "growling", lots of dark scenes, but NOBODY ever turned into a wolf. Yeah, sure, they turned slightly pale and had ball point pen drawn on them to look like veins but that was the extent of the transformations. The film was slow moving, EXTREMELY predictable, and the box was mis-leading. It was pure torture and I will put up with quite a bit.

***Spoiler if you care***

The only werewolf movie I've ever seen where the "wolves" are dispatched by being poked, not cut or stabbed but poked, with a silver pen. Almost as if: "Hey, we're running out of money and we need to wrap this up quickly...how do we do it?"
"Shoot them with silver bullets?"
"Nah, they're not really werewolves...really."
"I know, kill them with that silver pen that we made such a point of in the beginning."
"Well, people will see that coming from a mile away..."
"Yeah, but will they be able to guess that the werewolves will be killed by just poking them with it? And the beauty is, you need no special effects to make it happen!"
