We're all just victims of circumstance

I was wondering about this series of books by a guy named Jim Butcher. The books follow the adventures of a Chicago P.I. named Harry Dresden who is also a wizard.

SciFi is producing the pilot for a possible series to be aired this summer. It stars Paul Blackthorne and the pilot is being written by former Star Trek writers Hans Beimler and Robert Hewitt Wolfe (Wolfe developed GR's Andromeda). David Carson (ST: Generations) is directing.

I would basically like to know if anyone has read any of the books and how were they? It sounds like an interesting premise.

My husband has them around here somewhere, I believe.  I'll dig them out.  He said they were really good.

I found them last month and have read two, and started another series of his.  I really like the storylines. Some of the writing is a bit slang-cliche'd but the stories are sound.
I'd watch that show for sure.

I'm a member of the Science Fiction Book Club and I just ordered the first three of the Dresdan books in a single  omnibus edition. I needed something new to read.

They are good, I'm looking forward to a new series to follow.  You know, I used to look at the sci fi book club ads in comic books, magazines and paperback  and check off books I wanted to read.

They'r actually pretty good, everything they sell is hardback. They actually print the books and they are about 25% smaller than a normal hard cover book and they are usually about 40-50% cheaper.

They print a lot of omnibus editions, like right now I am reading Asimov's Foundation Trilogy all in one book. I have Lord of the Rings, The Stainless Steel Rat, and the all of the Hitchhikers Guide in the omnibus editions. It's pretty good deal to get 3 or 4 books in one for $14.99.

The only thing is you have to remember to go to their website and decline the featured selections so they won't ship them to you.
