Question - American Ninja 1 & 2 / Avenging Force

Okay, I've always thought Avenging Force (1986) was a hell of a lot better than American Ninja 1 (1985) and American Ninja 2 (1987). I always thought that the first movie had to have had different director than the latter two because I thought it was so much better. I was so wrong. They all were directed by the same guy. How could he have directed all of them, when AF is much better than AN 1 & 2?

I have to catch up on my 80's films LH-C. Did you find any redeeming qualities in these 3 films?

American Ninja 1 & 2 are just plain cheesy, IMHO, but still fun. Avenging Force (which also stars Steve James and Michael Dudikoff) has a much more interesting story - Taken from IMDb - A Secret Service agent is called out of retirement to investigate an assassination attempt on his friend, a black former agent running for office. He discovers the existence of a militaristic, racist group called The Pentangle with connections to politics, big business and government circles.
