THE STORY OF RED TEMPLE LILY (1979) - Kung Fu film about a bad baron and his monks who use large bells for weapons. A female martial artist wearing a red period outfit with a black cape fights her way through the bad guys with the help of 20 or so men. The finale fight scene may have been the only good scene in the film when a large bird flew in and blinds the baron after a final battle in the courtyard. The lady in red was mediorce, but her outfit was nice. Another drawback was the poor transfer. This film need a wide screen copy as much of the dialogue is off camera or at least cut the scene to focus on what was happening.

Thumbup Thumbdown 4 out of 10 Stars (choreography and camera work was not able to pull this one out.)

THE SWORDSWOMAN IN WHITE (????) - The female star in this film provides very good cinema style kung fu and the rest of the story is good as the film starts out with the mother jumping off a cliff to evade soldiers during a battle. She is never found, then became a monk and later unites with her daughter to fight those who beat her people years ago.

Now the EASTWESTDVD.COM copy has really bad dubbing which during the film you learn that all the dialogue is a joke. The dialogue is played straight then suddenly they are in a place ordering food and the dubbed voices say "I'll have a pizza with anchiovies....like Pizza Hut" later they're is a scene where someone helps someone fallen in the street saying in gangsta jive "here let me help you out of the hood". Then later their is a Kentucky Fried Chicken joke. They ruined a decent little martial arts film with dumb dialogue, but you may find it funny as I did during those bad moments because it comes out of the blue then later in the film more often. I couldn't even find the title of this film at imdb.com, so I'm wondering if it's even the real title. It's on a double DVD with THE STORY OF RED TEMPLE LILY.

Thumbdown 3 out of 10 Stars (simply because of the phony dubbing. May have been a decent film)

Both films female martial artist as the stars. EASTWESTDVD butchered both films or whom even they got the material from did injustice to both films.
