I found this cool article at www.howstuffworks.com about all the different enemies Superman could fight and if they had a chance of beating him.

Take the Jedi for example...Do you think a Jedi Knight could take Superman?

How about a Sith Lord?
Or maybe Gandalf from Lord of the Rings?

All of those types of characters and more can be found in that cool article.
Check it out here

What do you think?
Are there any enemies that weren't mentioned that you think might be able to beat him?

I'm pretty sure that Doomsday could beat Superman.

I hope someone gets that reference....

Doomsday doesn't count...
He already killed Superman in the past.

*spoilers to more Superman and Doomsday fights*

Doomsday nearly defeated Superman in a second match, from a three part series called "Hunter Prey" and was thrown into a 'when' of non-existance thus pretty much destroying his very exeristance. I thought that was a good way to end the character.

Then it turns out that Brainiac went into this zone and rescued Doomsday and somehow gave him emotions. I read the last issue of this arc and Doomsday pounds at a unfallable Superman, even to the point that his spikes begin to break. Super starts to pound Doomsday saying since he's felt fear he doesn't have confidence now.

Okay that COULD work but still Doomsday went down a little too easliy.

Then I think he was just defeated again by Superman and bunch of other Superheros gaining up on him in Infinte Crises. That sounds too easy.

So yeah I think they messed up the character Doomsday, the one character that should pretty much always defeat the man of steel or give him and bunch others a hell of a fight.

As much as I am a fan of it all, I still find the character of Superman to be pretty boring overall.  Sure, he's a god among men and all that jazz, but he's not particularly exciting on his own.  Don't get me wrong, I love the stories and the movies etc, but I still can't get into that character much at all...

Kinda odd...

But anyway, someone fighting Superman has a pretty hard job ahead of them regardless.  I mean, you could go crazy coming up with ideas, such as a 'Freddy Vs Superman' idea, which would have Superman fighting his fears in his head, where brute force isn't going to totally work.  And so on.

There's some pretty indepth descriptions on how those fights would work out.

Harry Potter could defeat Superman.  It's a David vs Goliath thing.  Superman wouldn't expect a boy to be wielding that kind of power.

It can be viewed in a manner similar to Billy whatever his name is, the kid who becomes Captain marvel/Shazam.  He knew Black Adam was too much of a warrior for him to defeat as Captain Marvel but also knew Black Adam's arrogance would not allow him to consider a child to be much of a threat.  So Billy was able to defeat Black Adam while Captain Marvel was out classed, even though Billy was by far the weaker of the two.
