THE FLESH EATERS (1964) - Picked this up from Netflix as one of those Saturday Movie Matinee films of my youth that I had always wanted to see again. What I remember most about the film was the flesh eating organisms in the ocean, the beatnik on the raft, the nazi scientist, and the "special effects". Watching it again I realize just how bloody the film was for the time. Upon my fresh viewing of this film I found out that it was made on the beaches of Long Island (except for the cliff footage). The films special effects were actually scratched onto the surface of the film. It's not a great film, but a unique and slightly disturbing film that I was finally able to view again tonight after 30 years. The DVD also has footage that was removed from the film.
