The new addition.  I keep wondering if Kris Kristopherson looked for scripts that involved him rolling around in the sheets with women.  Of course, I have seen a small sampling of movies he has been in, so my view might be skewed.

Really liked this one when I was much younger.  Always thought that Robert Joy was great as a robot.

Watched it recently on Fox Movie Channel.............why was I so stupid as a child?

If you wroked in a career where that was a possibility....what would you do?

Dear god, this was my first experience of paying full price for a movie and being flabberghasted that someone would make something like this and mean it seriously.  I can't stand how you watch the whole movie twice from two slightly different perspectives.

Maybe Kris wanted to erase the memory of that deodoerant commercial scene in Semi-Tough where he's in bed and pretends to be aroused since he's bored with filming the ad. Or maybe he just wanted to recapture some of his 70s heydaywhen he was a semi-sex symbol to many women.

I remember going to my first scifi convention, a relatively small local one, and there was a small promotional effort for this film going on: previews, "making of" panel discussions, maybe even prop displays.

Is the smoking aspect a part of the John Varley book? It sounds like one of those "bad behavior is actually good or useful" touches science fiction writers sometimes toss into stories and it usually comes off as too gimmicky unless the writer has a humorous or ironic intent.

I also remember loving this film as a kid.
I actually caught most of it a year or two ago and didn't think it was all that bad.
Somewhat boring yes...but not entirely bad.

Whenever I think of this film three words always come to mind...

I did not say that it was a bad idea, but wanted to point out the fact that there was a strange thought process going on if he did.

Uh, we're all kind of stupid as kids- I used to think the same way about Maximum Overdrive. Now I see it was just an excuse for grown ups to overact and blow up prefectly innocent eighteen wheelers. I still love the scene with the ATM though.

I saw on the Blood Freak thread you had never seen this movie anywhere. They play it every few months on Fox Movie Channel. In fact they've shown it several times this month.

The first time you watch Louise and Bill on their date, a number of details are missing.  Later, they show us the evening, but with a lot of twists thrown in.
