Stop the suffering.

The suffering that Beer Guy went through in "Feast" got me to thinking about characters in movies who I felt sorry for, even to the point that I hoped the film would put them to rest and stop torturing them.  I thought that this topic had come up on the board before, but did not find the thread.

First off, Beer Guy from "Feast."
He is soaked by a deluge of liquefied twelve year-old, monster stomach digestive acid, and maggots.  The treatment is not good for his complexion, causing his skin to go pasty white and begin dissolving (his hair starts falling out too).  Then, while looking out a boarded-up window, a monster grabs his eyeball and slowly pulls it from the socket.  Comatose, he lies on a pool table and other characters check him for signs of life with a fork.  He continues to dissolve, ultimately wandering in front of a monster and having his head smashed apart.

While hunting the monster in a partially flooded room, one fellow is hit by a speargun fired by a nervous crewmember.  It is not an ordinary speargun, no; this thing also delivers a huge volume of compressed gas into whatever it punctures.  This was a fairly quick demise, but looked uncomfortable.

Beer Guy is the most extreme one that came to mind, but several others seem to be dancing around the edge of my foggy memory.  Any more?

There are many, but when I first saw "reservoir Dogs" I couldn't wait for the rest of the "dogs" to dump Tim Roth at the nearest hospital.

thats a tough one...the blonde girl from Mark Of The Devil who gets her tongue ripped out, stretched etc gets my vote...if I think of any others I'll post again...

I always seem to be the one hoping certain annoying characters get bumped off due to their irritation level       for example; Oliver Platt's character in Lake Placid...

O yeah, and that soldier from "Black Hawk Down" too. Not only he gets hit on the leg, he also has to endure the doctor operating on him without anesthetics. Ugh.

See, I'm starting to realise is far more tolerable when this happens on not-so-serious movies.

Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer had that one lady getting tortured while her family was killed right before her eyes, they went pretty far. In real life she even had to get therapy cause it was psychologically traumatizing.

Red to Kill had some really graphic rape scenes, especially the one of a mentally handicap chick, every "thrust" the guy made looked pretty damn painful, I was like, "someone run in and stab this guy!"

"I Spit on Your Grave" had the one rape section that made the viewer feel quite uncomfortable.

How had I forgotten this one?  Watching him slowly squirm in the back of the car, smearing blood everywhere, was definitely hard to watch.  You kept hoping they would drive by a hospital and push him out the door.

It was difficult to bear that section of the book, which, if anything, lends itself to even more sympathy than the film.  You feel for both the wounded soldier and the young medic.

oh yeah, I Spit On Your Grave, forgot about that one, I think that was the longest rape scene in movie history, way over the top

LAST HOUSE on the LEFT was pretty sadistic. the Original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE was terrifyin to watch the mental torture of Marilyn Burns at the kitchen table scene. The DEVIL'S REJECTS, when Otis is torturing the cowboy band members in the motel room was dog nasty.

Gee Scott, thanks for that great pick-me-up bright and early in the morning for me to see the picture of people in agony and covered in blood.

People in pain... Jeff Goldblum in The Fly deserved a break. Walking around looking like h's gonna throw up every step, and then throwing up acid on that guy's arm was pretty good. It was a pretty rough moment.

Ah...and another reminder why i stay away from movies like this.
I get enought depressing evil when i read the paper...i wanna watch more in my movies?

Patrick Swayze in...well, anything really. He always looks like he is going to either spew or cry. I feel sorry for him because he always looks to be in such agony but then I need to remember..."pain don't hurt."

The ILSA films are pretty horrendous,as are some of the more sadistic WIPs. And alot of those SS Prison camp films. I saw some god awful stuff in one of those...I couldn"t stand to watch it all the way through. Gory films don't upset me,but sadism for the sake of it is just not an enjoyable film watching experiance for me. I din"t enjoy I SPIT on YOUR GRAVE at all! Yet 2000 MANIACS, with all it's torture ,is so damn, I dunno Cheerful(?) in its mood and the bluegrass music is great! DELEVERIANCE  has a interesting story and charecters,which keeps it head over heels of the likes of such trash as as smething like, say , FRANKENSTIEN 1980(by the way,has anybody beyond me ever seen this terrible film...it's not got a lick of humor in it at all!)

"2000 Maniacs" is way too silly and amusing to match up with stuff like the "Ilsa" movies.  One thing, the first "Ilsa" film is a bit less evil than the others I have seen.  In that one you have Ilsa giving the one prisoner to her two female guards, to see if they can make him - ah - lose control.

I don't know about a banjo, but that neverending Spanish guitar piece in Mesa of Lost Women sure made me scream...and cry.
