I accidently stumbled on this movie over at IMDB.com Judging from the poster and brief description, this might be labelled a "swords and sandals" type movie. I don't ever remember it in the theatres: it must've died after one week. Stars Eric Stoltz and Gabriel Byrne. Not available on DVD as far as I know- at least it's not available through Netflix.
Bad movie? The IMDB rating is only 5.2 (not a truly bad rating, nor a truly good one either).

I barely remember this.  My scant memories indicate it was very boring, except for maybe one or two swordfights.

I've seen it. I liked it.  Alot.

I think the climatic swordfight between Eric Stoltz and Gabriel Byrne is one of the ten best swordfights I have ever seen in a film.

I like the symbolism in the film. Almost every time Gabriel Byrne's character appears in the film, the fog starts rolling in or the sky gets dark. And when the actor, who plays Bryne's brother in the film, is throwing dice in the scene in the underground city, he throws double ones or "snake eyes" just before Bryne's character appears.

The film has an interesting pedigree. The director was Franklin J. Schaffner, who would win an Oscar as best director for his directing of "Patton." This would be his second to last film, as he died two years after this film was released.

If Dexter Fletcher, who plays Michael, looks familiar, eleven years earlier he made his motion picture debut as Baby Face in "Bugsy Malone." And Chris Pitt, who plays Odo, and Sammi Davis, who plays Baptista, would both appear in next year's "Lair of the White Worm." Pitt playing Kevin, and Davis playing Mary Trent.

I have cloudy memories of this film, it's one of those that if I watched it again I'd remember it but for the life of me I couldn't tell you one scene in it, but I know I've seen it.

Francis Ford Coppola who was Executive Producer was originally going to direct this.

Yeah I remmember this one, it was the worst Van Damm's role  Thumbdown

It is easy to do, dvix712, but you have the two movies confused. The one we are talking about came out in 1987. The one you are talking about came out in 1990. Two totally different movies.
