Wes has turned out some bad movies...along with Deadly Friend, this late 80s unclassic, Shocker, ranks there among some of his lowest.  I thought of this flick when I passed the VHS for sale the other day and I've been debating on getting it ever since.

See, this movie brings back some memories of the late 80s.  One particular week (cue Megadeath's remake of Alice Cooper's "No More Mr. Nice Guy" ) in the middle of Summer, my friend's parents would head to Canada for awhile and he'd throw a big party.  Well, this is the movie we "tried" to watch but didn't make it through to the end until after several attempts.

I barely remember all the details but I do remember Horrace Pinker, the guy who gets fried, invades dreams or something, and ressurects himself via electricity and there's a big fight that ends up in TV land near the end.  Also, this story has a Final Boy(TM) for a change.  I'll have to get it and watch it to decide if it's worth a review.  Anyone else remember this one?  I hear it's going to be remade in 2009.

HBO actually showed this the other night...late at night.
I watched the whole thing and parts of it made me laugh my ass off.
It definitely has some unintentional humor in it.

This should be shown at B-Fest.

It appears that there's a Shocker remake in the works:

This entire movie is one of the most unintentionally funny films to ever grace the silver screen.

It used to air on basic cable all the time, never could sit through more than 10 minutes. Not boring or bad or anything except that it would make no impression on me at all. Would have to remind myself what in the hell I was watching.

The people sitting behind us were laughing so hard they had to leave the theater.  Great job Wes!

The scene I remember most about that movie is the night before the death row inmate was fried, he summoned some sort of evil spirit, and a pair of large lips emerged from a tv screen.

I thought it was intentional?  Like when he rams through the police cars and as he's doing it cackles something like "HEE HEE HEE!!".

There WAS some intentional humor in it, but mostly it's just embarassing to watch for me.

I haven''t watched this one since my first time when I was on my early teens. I was scared s**tless at the beginning -no kidding- but slowly the film became more of a laughing matter, and when the main characters are chasing each other through TV sets I couldn't stop laughing. Wes Craven is a visionary, he melted in one film a serious horror flick and its parody.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.
