Herman Cohen was a producer for some films that we may have enjoyed here at badmovies.org. Which ones have you seen?

Bela Lugosi meets a Brooklyn Gorilla, lesser precursor to Snakes on a Plane.

You may have asked me which HAVN'T I seen! Iv'e enjoyed them all,:many good Creature Feature memories....
Odd thing: We had a neighbor,a crazy woman who lived next door to us named Tammy, who would babble nonsense constantly, and every so often lift both her arms over her head and sniff her armpits(YEEECH)! Me and  the family started refering to her alternatly as TROG or KONGA.
Nok.Nok.Nok.
"Jed,can you get that?"
Jed Peeks through the curtain...
"Hide! It's KONGA!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Of them all,I would have to say I liked HOW to MAKE a MONSTER the best...just because of all the cool monsters in it!

"Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)

Lugosi-"No. Dracula-never ends."

I've seen all but one of them...THE HEADLESS GHOST.  I own it, but I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it yet.  I guess you could call me a Herman Cohen fan.  I'm even the guy behind the Hermancohen.com website.

Far and away the best Herman Cohen film is A STUDY IN TERROR, which is a terrific Sherlock Holmes film and a terrific Jack the Ripper movie.  Good stuff.

All of them are fun.  The only one that probably shouldn't be on the list is DJANGO THE BASTARD (1969), which he really had very little to do with other than as a distributor.  Likewise with his Italian giallo WATCH ME WHEN I KILL (1977).

A few notables that you are missing are:

CRAZE (1973) with Jack Palance!
CROOKS AND CORONETS (1969) with Telly Savalas!
DANCE WITH ME HENRY! (1956) with Abbott and Costello (their last film together)
KID MONK BARONI (1952) with Leonard Nimoy!

There are a few more, but not really worth mentioning or impossible to find.

Wow, the Herman Cohen webpage is a very nice tribute page. It's been on the web for a while now and had no idea you made it. Did you know him?

My favorite film was I WAS A TEENAGE FRANKENSTIEN.

Thanks, Scott.  No I didn't know him, though I wish I had.  He was a true original.  I've gotten to know his business partner of many years, Didier Chatelain, through my work on the Herman Cohen site.  I also got to know some of his family members, which is how I got the personal and family photos.  I put the site together as a way to keep myself from going stir crazy when I was unemployed for a couple of months shortly after he passed away.  I put a lot of hours into it and still have stuff I'd like to do on the site.  Sadly it has been neglected for a long time due to my now crazy life.  Hopefully I'll have some time to work on it again in the future someday.  Definitely a labor of love that one.

Gerry, thanks for the info on DJANGO THE BASTARD. Was wondering what he had to do with a Spaghetti Western.  Smile
