We're all just victims of circumstance

A SciFi original that actually delivers a few chills.

Chief of Police Wayne (Sean Patrick Flanery) wakes up to find his last day on duty to be his most exciting and terrifying. He gets called out to a local farmer's place on a disturbance call to find the farmer dead with his eyes plucked and strange scratches all over his head.  Meanwhile reformed town drunk Clyde (Stephen McHattie) is harassed by a flock of ravens while trying to repair the school bus. He later tries to tell the chief, but gets dismissed due to his reputation.  Things go down hill from here.  There are increasing raven attacks and the local Mennonites are acting might peculiar over the whole thing.

There are some terrifying and creepy moments during the film, which distinguishes it from most of the SciFi Saturday fare. This movie was directed by Sheldon Wilson, who did the quite good Shallow Ground.

The movie is fast paced and lacks much characterization other than broadly drawn stereotypes, but it is a cheap horror movie.  McHattie and Flanery get most of the screen time and  yes that is Rod Taylor (The Birds) playing the town doctor.

The bird FX are mostly pretty good, especially the ones where it appears live birds were used.

I won't spoil the reason for the raven's behaviour, it's one of those things you have to see for yourself.

This should be on again on Thursday night.

I wanted to catch this one Saturday night but sadly we had to take our puppy to an animal ER as she was close to dying.

I'll try to DVR it Thursday night.  It actually looked pretty good.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Yea, verily. Puppy...good!
KAW...diden't get to see it all, but the "Crash and burn" scene...it amazes me they let the car do a slow burn, and no boom. They juuuust qoulden't let the cliche go, all the way.
I'm sorry. Raven weight is what, two-three pounds? It a rat with wings. And panic is the best effect they have. But, get a tennis racket in each hand, and its watch out birdies! Splat! splat! Over hte net for 20!

I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?

I thought the movie was OK, had some real good moments, but I think it could have used a few more ravens doing the attacking, they're not real big birds and an adult who kept his cool could probably take out a lot of them in one sitting, having said that this is a movie that is very watchable. The scene with the woman in the well and the elder with the latern really got my attention.

Skaboi how is the puppy, well and at home I hope.

Thanks for the comments guys.  The puppy is doing much better, running around the house, hyper as always.  The vets have no idea what was wrong with her, must have been some kind of virus.  We hope it's over for good.
