Savage Journey (1983) - Made for TV movie about the Mormons early history, but mostly about Brigham Young. The film also features
Richard Moll as Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith. They cover the meeting of Young and Smith, the Mormon town of Nauvoo, the death of Smith by angry mob, and the Westward journey through Nebraska and into Utah in what is now called Salt Lake City. They touch a little on the Mormon Battalion that went to California, Polygamy, Indian battles, and U.S. goverment issues. The film it's self was low budget and a relatively basic informative film on Mormon history. They don't go into much detail. Not even sure Mormons would enjoy this one. At the end of the film they show a bustling city of Salt Lake with the temple in the background.
(4 out of 10 Stars) Wonder what TV Network aired this one? It's on the Drive-In 50 Pack from Mills Creek Entertainment. 4 stars just as a minor film oddity. They put some effort into it. To big a subject and to low a budget to cover it all I guess.
