So I got a new PC about 6 months ago - E-machines cheapie running Vista. It's got one of these keyboards where the keys don't stick up very far, they're quite flat with the surface of the keyboard. Anyhow, when I'm typing something like a post here, I'm having a real annoying problem with these pull-down menus CONSTANTLY being activated. Just a few minutes ago I was typing something and in about three keystrokes I opened the bookmarks and sent myself to another web page. I've activated just about every menu option on the whole stupid browser, while just trying to enter some text. I never had this problem with my old keyboard.
Anybody else have this problem? Maybe it's a bad keyboard, I notice the mouse is as cheap as they come, and works like crap. Maybe I should just get a new keyboard and mouse. Or is there any way to disable the "hot keys" -ah just did it again! - typing away and the stupid thing starts chiming at me! This is getting really annoying
Why not put your old keyboard on the new computer, it's either a PS2 or USB connection. Your new computer, should have both, if it's a PS2 as some new computer don't have these, a cheap PS2 to USB adapter should work, probably get one at Radio Sh!t for a buck or 2. Use the new keyboard for a doorstop.
