Old Fashioned Christmas Various Artists

This is a wonderful collection of traditional music, or, Folk music, about the Christmas story.  It's beautiful.  Definitely one of my favorites at this time of year.  Folksy, spooky, mournful yet full of hope: "The next good joy that Mary had was it was the joy of six... to see the blessed Jesus Christ upon the crucifix (pause)...upon the crucifix good Lord, and happy may we be... praise Father Son and Holy Ghost through all eternity!"    Once you've listened to "Seven Joys of Mary" you will understand that one of the seven was the "joy" of seeing her innocent son crucified.  That's heavy and from an ancient song.  These recordings all have a wonderful traditional quality and sincerity that I love.

ELVIS' Christmas album with "Mama Liked The Roses..."  Lots of album cover art and different mixes of that album were released, but the original album did not have that song.

This is one of the best WINGS albums... there are some solid Rockers on here, and they're all great tunes, plus one of PAUL's best Pop hits ("Listen To What The Man Said")... BUT, as he was accused of then, he includes too much treacle.  The 1930s-like Pop parody works on the "White Album" by them "BEATLES" but here, "You Gave Me The Answer" seems "cheeky" and certainly indulgent.   A real mixed bag, out-of-print (OOP) stateside, this is still a great album.

WINGS Venus and Mars

What can I say?  Kind of the same, not as great, but richer with tunes, and productions.  Me love me some Pop.
