I guess some people didn't liek this as it wasn't all that scary, but I thought it was good.  directed by John Landis of Animal House fame.

It's based on a "native american legend" of a woman who transforms from a deer to a beautiful woman and seduces then brutally tramples unsuspecting men.  it is basically as much of a comedy as a horror movie but it is very clever and manages to maneuver it's way around it's utterly preposterous premise stylishly.

Of course, as a b movie fan, you are drawn to the title and there are a few bones thrown your way in the manner of special effects.  also parodies the police action drama sort of dialogue.

I really liked this one.  I'm a Landis fan and also really like Brian Benben.  I bought it on DVD a while back and it's one that I highly recommend.  Like you said Lester, it is more comedy than horror but that's fine with me.

Mine also had another episode on it about a pair of insect obsessed lesbians.  it was of similar quality with good gory effects.  it was a good pairing sort of exploitation-ish episodes

That would be Lucky McKee's "Sick Girl".  Pretty good episode with softcore porn actress Misty Mundae  Thumbup

She mainly does horror films with heavy softcore porn elements.  Watch Cinemax on any given weekend and you're sure to find some type of crap film with Misty Mundae in it.

I had to give up on the Masters of Horror series.  I'd been watching them on dvd, but after a string of about five episodes without a lick of quality, I stopped renting them.  There are some good episodes spread amongst the series, I really wish there was a stronger consistency though.

That being said, I really enjoyed Deer Woman.  I've got a lot of good will towards Brian Benben from Dream On (less from I Come in Peace), and the nudity didn't hurt.  John Landis has been off his game for quite a while, but he can still be pretty funny when he needs to be.

I did watch both seasons of the show, and this one is easily among the keepers from season #1. More comedy than horror, but it's John Landis' best movie in quite a while. Loved Benben's performance and the small nods to the clichés, such as the cops listening to an Indian legend... from the waiter of a Native American Casino.

Landis also directed one of the best episodes in season #2, "Family". It's actually a better effort than this one.

I didn't laugh when I saw THAT. Another keeper from series #1, sure, together with "Sick Girl" and "Incident on and off a mountain road".

I thought that Deer Hunter was okay, though the Brazillian model Cinthia Moura who played the title character was quite breathtakingly gorgeous, especially her eyes.   TongueOut

I liked this movie as well as Sick Girl. I thought Deer Woman was hillarious as well as decently bloody, classic Landis. As for Sick Girl I find most things with lesbians are instantly made better.

Deer Woman was actually quite funny and entertaining.  Of the 5 or so episodes of the Masters of Horror series, it's been the only one I was really that happy with.  Incident was OK, and Pick Me Up was also OK..  I don't remember the others I saw, but they were pretty dull.

The most inspired part is where the cop is imagining different ways that the deer "person" might have killed the trucker at the beginning of the flick.
