First of all, I'm a huge fan of Richard Wolstencroft; so when i found out about Pearls Before Swine I was elated. Also a big fan of politically themed movies i wanted to see how he was going to pull of a movie about new-age fascism. Then it gets better, the lead player is Boyd rice from NON plus cameo appearance with Douglas Pierce...so here we are sitting in living room with something from the mind of Mr. Wolstencroft starring two of my favorite musicians, the dvd is ready, I'm surrounded by popcorn and yo-hoos, more excited than a prom queen..anyways, you get the idea. The opening credits come on with a series of historical photographs mixed with pop culture and the absurd and the catchiest tune ever which i still find myself humming over the past few days. Then It all goes down hill, way down hill.... The acting was so stiff i kept expecting one of the actors to pull a sheet of paper out of his pocket and start reading his lines while the camera was still rolling. If you are familiar with Boyd Rice, the man is extremely intelligent, without, and brilliant, though i will admit that i find him very attractive, it was a little unnerving to see him in a sex scene. Mostly the movie was an endless succession of drugs, assassinations, therapy sessions, and lust, although the scene involving a gas mask and bondage was a little interesting, little else of it made sense or was entertaining. Some of my other friends whom have watched this movie really liked it, me, i couldn't wait to put my copy on amazon.
