Had a pretty successful book signing yesterday . . . I sold 17 copies of THE TESTIMONIUM at Half Price Books in McKinney, TX.

I never realized until after I got published how much being an author is like being a pimp!

"Psssst . . . Mister - looking for a good read?"

I would be having a good read too if only I could find your book locally.  Bluesad

Twelve ways I liven up my bouts of occasional insomnia (like tonight):

1. Spend the night taking the labels off all the canned goods and mix the books up inside their dust jackets, then create elaborate story of how a ghost did it.

2. "Accidentally" drop a stack of baking trays in the kitchen...hey, why should they get to sleep when I can't, eh?

3. Call Dial-A-Psychic hotline and tell them if they can help me find the winning Power Ball ticket I lost somewhere in the house, I'll split the jackpot with them, set down the phone and go to the first place they've told me to look, shout for joy and say, "Yes! Yes! I'm going to be so rich!" then come back and tell them sorry, their intuition didn't work, and hang up the phone.

4. Carefully switch the sleeping kids around so that in the morning they wake up in a different bedroom, then tell them they must've imagined it.

5. Dress my dogs up as Kardashians.

6. Walk back and forth in front of the first-floor windows under a flowing white sheet.

7. Read the diary I kept as a teenager. Weep a little, curse life, then eat some chocolate and feel better about the fact that my glory days were twenty years ago.

8. Compose life saving brown-nosing speech in case Lovecraftian Elder Gods rise to conquer the world. (Excerpt: "Ygtp'poh bellegretch! Y'ug ho'leethpeeth!" Brilliant sucking-up, huh?)

9. Cut tiny random words from magazines to mail to my prison pen pal for the colorful letters she sends the judge who put her away.

10. Catch up on housework while planning tasteful attire for mother-in-law's eventual memorial service.

11. Send Nigerians emails about recent acquisitions of treasure I would like to split with them.

12. Compose long, rambling lists...

Some protestors are rioting in Kiev. Their complaint? The President has not instituted martial law.

I heard somewhere once, about a guy who raised a sunken ship by injected the hull with Styrofoam peanuts. He got the idea from a cartoon.

There's some speculation that Werner Heisenberg may have gone to a Dizzy Gillespie concert, & the chaotic nature of one of Gillespie's songs inspired Heisenberg's principal of uncertainty.

In the movie, A Beautiful Mind, O'l what's his name is trying to figure out how to get into the pants of some girl, when he realizes he can apply it to a mathematical equation....

Soooo.......

What if time machines don't exist, because they've already been invented, but the people who keep inventing them keep going back in time & causing something for them to miss out on that one seemingly pointless little thing that gave them the idea?

A man I used to know wrote a story that explained the reason the Titanic sank so quickly was because it was filled with the massive extra weight of thousands of time travelers who came back to watch it go down. I liked that notion.

Interesting, albeit, The Titanic stayed afloat for nearly three hours....

Speaking of time travel, only a couple people know this about me (well til now, I guess) but when I was little, like pre-school age, I had an imaginary friend who said he was my grandson, and I told everyone he was the person who taught me to read. Uber-weird, eh? Not a fairy godmother or a talking kitty or an imaginary child my own age, no, an invented grandson. I was a trippy toddler.

Speaking of The Titanic....
I wonder how many newsboys of the day Knew how to pronounce it vs. how many looked at the headline & pronounced it phonically...

Really; How many among us pronounced Chipotle, Ouija or Sade right the first time?

Ever notice how much Africa, South America, and even Australia (if you flip it a little) are shaped alike? They even have little horns off to their eastern edges and inward curves on their western sides. I can't decide if that means Slartibartfast's coworkers were unimaginative in their templates or had a sense of humor.
