I was thinking that whenever you're looking for something, you always find it in the last place you look.  Then it dawned on me that, oh...that's probably because you quit looking once you've found it.

Got the fall flowers planted, the windows washed, the house vacuumed...thank God for these relaxing weekends.

I'm glad I didn't become a college professor. In fact I've come to detest the repressive, anti-individualistic nature of colleges so much I think someday I'll offer my kids the choice of paying for them to go to college, or giving them the tuition money to skip ahead four years and start their own businesses.

Would anyone please explain the movie Shane to me? An Alan Ladd movie? Classic western. I've never seen it and someone made a reference to it.

Was Shane a bad guy who tried to go good and then went back to black at the end, or was he a good guy who tried to go bad but was really good at heart? Or was it that he tried to live non-violently and realized he couldn't? I'm guessing it was one of those but I can't get the reference without knowing which he was.

"Or was it that he tried to live non-violently and realized he couldn't" Of the 3 you made, ER, that one is probably the nearest to reiterating the plot of the film. If you have not seen it, then I suggest you do see it. Whether you'll like it is anybody's guess, but . . .?! It is considered a classic for more than one reason.

Late, but I kept ignoring the reports for the 10th anniversary of Katrina, because it seems to be beating a dead horse. s**t happened, we came back, here we are 10 years later. Don't need 5,000,000,001 articles on this.

Took my son target shooting today at his great-grandpa's gun range. He's four, and I apologized to him for waiting so long.

When we got done he said, "Can we do this again?"

I said, "Of course, honey. If I move back to Texas, I can't have the other kindergarteners making fun of you for being a gun virgin."

"What's a gun virgin, Mommy?'

"Nothing, sweetheart. Now re-load your .22 like mommy showed you."

It was a proud day.

For some reason, the best Chinese food I find is the kind I get from the food court at shopping malls.

I won a Rode NTG-1 on ebay last week, & got it in the mail the other day.
It didn't come with a clip, but I played with it a little bit around the kitchen.

Now, I can't stop thinking about that scene from Blow Out (1981), & wondering how John Travolta was able to have a hyper cardioid mic that hot without picking up any background noise, the wind, the sound of his fingers rubbing against the mic,etc...

I really don't get Structural in CADD, too many things that don't make sense to me. It's sad, since I'm near graduating next semester and I need to do an internship for my CADD certificate.

This afternoon a stranger came up to me and gave me a copy of the Serenity prayer, saying she felt she was supposed to. Nice of her.

I had a random thought about why it's good to be gentle in life, but also strong, prepared, and well-defended, because history shows this is not a safe world, and I think the video down below sums it up.

My random thought:

! No longer available Small | Large

Reagan The Bear.

And BTW, growing up my family were not just Democrats, many were connected Democrats, who hung out with John Glenn, and shunned Republicans as a party for WASPs, as old school Catholics tended to do until recently, so as a kid I had no upbringing in sympathy for Ronald Reagan, my father dislikes the man even now, but I do think as far as metaphors go, this commercial was masterful, and a wise lesson to embrace when it comes to protecting yourself.

Pace.
