I will never understand why anyone builds their necron doomsday arks with the ribs down and the doomsday cannon under the spine. I know GW models are built that way and think it's really bad. I built both mine ribs up with the cannon on top of the spine. I can't understand why anyone does it the other way.

The doomsday cannon is a really great looking piece of kit and should be well painted, and clearly  visible, putting it under the ribs when you invert them just makes zero sense.

What's the appeal of Gambling?

I mean the odds are rigged against you. You'll lose more than you win unless very lucky.

Also if you win the casino will accuse you of card counting. Honesltynhow does anyone not Understand thst casrd counting is the way to play and itcs all mental so it's nit cheating. But if you do it and win yoiu get kidnapped by the casino goons, robbed of your winning,  photographed and threatened if you come back to any casino. For winning.

I play Wargwmes, I calculate odds and estimate  results. Thatsa the only way to play. Why anyone wants to play a game where you Lose money and get attacked if you play to win is beyond me.

Checklist for today:

Plan summer interns going-away party.

Buy a cactus pear.

Think up a good necrophiliac joke. ("'I just switched heads, says the undertaker....'")

Leave pregnancy test in church restroom to stimulate conversation.

Have lunch with man I used to hate; say terrible things about his wife.

Buy son a goldfish to help him be less down about school.

Deliberately misspell something here to envigorate my critics.

Meet krav maga instructor on time, and avoid Anne Frank jokes.

Re-enforce concept of "do as I say not as I did" in my tweenage daughter.

Clean hair out of tub drain and take out trash.

Make husband's lunch.

Wash hands well.

Read some uplifting Edward Gorey before bed.

Plan fake alien encounter for son.

Get at least five hours sleep.

Dream something interesting.

Wake up alive tomorrow.

What's the appeal of Gambling?

The chance to win a large amount of money without working.

Also, when you win, your brain emits a big surge of dopamine, the same neurotrasmitter that cocaine stimulates.

The neurology of gambling is quite complex. Here's one of hundreds of articles on the subject: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3845016/

Personally, I like my money too much to gamble, but I will play home games of poker, where everyone has an equal chance to win.

I enjoy a game of poker or dice on occasion- I never play big money.

It occurred to me one day that the Vegas strip wasn't built on people coming there and winning.

Er, the saying is that Vegas is built on losers,  not winners.

Our town's population is only 12,000, yet we have four hearing aid stores. Three of them almost located next to another. Very strange. Even stranger is I have never seen any customers or employees in the stores.

So new reports show that vaping  causes notable lung damage and can do so fairly quickly.

We all know smoking causes lung damage. "We all" means anyone not stupid or willfully ignorant.

So smoking causes lung damage. Now vaping causes lung damage.

Gee, it,'s almost like human lungs have evolved over hundreds of millions of years,  or if you choose to believe, they were  created,  to do nothing but maintain life by  interacting with the gases that make up earth's atmosphere,  namely 70% nitrogen,  20% oxygen and assorted inert gases.

Maybe we really can't routinely inhale things our lungs are not evolved or created to deal with. Maybe there's a reason smoke makes us cough, it's because our lungs  don't  interact with smoke well.  Likewise for heavy fog.

Humans seem to think they can do anything they want and it's  OK, science and technology make us able to do a lot we can't do naturally ,  like fly, breath and travel underwater,  go to the moon,  etc. Science has made  us  able to do lots of  things,  but maybe inhaling things our lungs aren't meant to do isn't  one of them yet.

Maybe we should just be glad our lungs let us live and not insist on using them to ingest drugs like nicotine or whatever they put in vape fluid. Need nicotine? Chew gum. Hell,  get a few hot celebs to chew gum in a few movies and it'll be the "in" and "cool' thing in a few weeks.

Not disputing any of this, just wanted to point out the people who have ended up in the hospital were some dumb kids who bought marijuana loads off some guy on the street for their vape sticks...

Yeah, I know you can get formaldehyde from 'em...
