A good bad movie is like popcorn for the soul!

I've seen five off the list -
THE NATIVITY STORY
ONE HOUR PHOTO
CLOVERFIELD
NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS
PATHFINDER

Of those, THE NATIVITY STORY was a wonderful, faithful rendering of the Biblical account that I thoroughly enjoyed.
ONE HOUR PHOTO was well done but creepy - kudos to Robin Williams as a great villain!
CLOVERFIELD just rocked.  Yeah, it had weaknesses, but I loved it in spite of them.
NATIONAL TREASURE - a good fun popcorn flick.
PATHFINDER -  a real disappointment, full of gaping historical errors and plotholes and weak on actual story.  I had high hopes for it and was really let down.

Your correct about THE NATIVITY STORY being a well done recent biblical story. It actually had some other originally insightful moments. Nothing groundbreaking, but interesting.

ONE HOUR PHOTO was creepy especially when Williams character daydreams about being in their home when the arrive and of course the ending with the mild psycho investigation encounter with the detective.

CLOVERFIELD was ok. I didn't like the shaky hand held camera thing, but perhaps that is what actually made this film work. Would like to see if it would be as effective without the shaky camera thing.

Really enjoyed NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS concept. The idea being that the Presidents throughout history pass this book along and make additions. Only for the eyes of those elected to President. They leave you with what's on page 47 at the end setting up the next adventure I suppose. I also liked how they go to Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park at the end. Not as good as the first film, but very enjoyable if you enjoy the idea of goverment secrets.

PATHFINDER was a dissapointment, but I new that going in and it lived up to its reputation as a poor film.

None but I've heard lots of great word of mouth about lots of movies from 2007 and 2008...are things started to turn around in terms of modern day movies delivering the goods? Actually seems to be the case.

I AM LEGEND was another poor film. I actually enjoyed 28 DAYS LATER much better.

THE BIG SLEEP was a neat film and I enjoyed it much. It's really just a vehicle to show Bogart and Bacall on the screen.

Yes, EMBRYO starring the dull mic holding Rock Hudson, but the film gets much better once Barbara Carrera enters the film. It even becomes watchable.

LET'S SCARE JESSICE TO DEATH was very effective and scary. A women with some mental problems trapped in a very strange town. First time I saw this film on Comcast. Very good horror flick.

Hey Scott! Nice to have you back!!! (Uh...whuts with the Iron Sheik?!?!)

Thanks RCMerchant. Couldn't find anything more interesting to put up.  Question

I was just talking about that last week. There does seem to be better films coming out lately.

I didn't like the ending to The Mist but the overall movie and creatures was ok.
Cloverfield was intense, filled with whoop-out-loud moments and plenty of clapping and monster-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh TeddyR moments. I love it no matter what anyone else says.
Embryo was a pretty cool movie. Creepy puppies in glass jars, ooooo.
One Hour Photo was a surreal film. Robin Williams is an outstanding actor!

Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (9 out of 10 Stars)
The Big Sleep (8 out of 10 Stars)
.the BIG SLEEP-Great!!!
I like THE MALTESE FALCON much better; I think SLEEP, though fun, is convoluted and implausible.

BELA, I always love those TV horrors from the 70s; one of my favorites!   TeddyR  Definitely underrated.

Scott, MR BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE got your highest rating!  You'd love THE BACHELOR AND THE BOBBY-SOXER which is even funnier.

I was very surprise THE MIST ended that way. This film will still be a favorite for many once it hits DVD and everyone gets to see it. It has some wacky characters and good horror elements.

Yep, just enjoyed it a lot. Fun film. I'll keep a look out for THE BACHELOR AND THE BOBBY-SOXER. Thanks for the recommendation.

Definitely a horror film worth seeking out. It should be better known. The whole film has a different approach. The atmosphere is something between CARNIVAL OF SOULS and A NAME FOR EVIL.

I like THE MALTESE FALCON much better; I think SLEEP, though fun, is convoluted and implausible.

It's like the studios wanted Bogart and Bacall on the screen for this investigative caper. Still a pleasure to watch as the two are great to watch on screen and yes THE MALTESE FALCON is the better film.

Also I must add three Western films that I forgot to list which were SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHERIFF, A ROUGH NIGHT IN JERICHO, and THE FAR SIDE OF JERICHO. All good ones. The two latter ones are unrelated films.

I'm shocked as to how many people have seen One Hour Photo.
More than Rambo? Seems a bit odd.

I guess because RAMBO just came out and ONE HOUR PHOTO has been around a few years. By the way go to the theater and see the new RAMBO. Fun film and interesting crowd.

I've seen One Hour Photo on TV sometime, and not from the very beginning. Doesn't matter anyway, because I didn't like it that much.

I'm more surprised that more people have seen Rambo than I Am Legend, though.

Well, I wouldn't mislead you: it pairs CARY GRANT again with MYRNA LOY, plus SHIRLEY TEMPLE, RAY COLLINS, RUDY VALLEE, HARRY DAVENPORT...  I am not a big CARY fan in all honesty, but he is in so many essential films, I surrender.  BACHELOR is fine, really a sex comedy, and if you like wry, insightful, late 40s comedies, it's one of the best.
"You remind me of a man!"  "What man?"  "Man with the power!"  "What power?"  "The power of Hoo-doo!"  "Hoo-doo?!"  "You do!"  "I do what?"  "Remind of a man."  "What man...?"
