A crane at the bottom of the lake? ... no montser

Ok, maybe you guys can help me: I vaguely remember a creepy movie from the 80s. I'm pretty sure fred savage I THINK ... was in it. All I remember is that he's terrified of this "Monster" that lives in a lake at a rock quarry, but it turns out that the monster is actually an old rusted out crane at the bottom of the lake. Any ideas what that movie is called? Thanks
