Laughing girl gets hand cut off.

I saw this movie in the late 80s or possibly early 90s.

One of the characters was a "glass half full" type female.  She was always cheerful and finding the good side of any situation.  At one point, she got captured by the villains and interrogated.  After the head villain got tired of her cheerfulness, he cut her hand off (not sure if it was with a sword or just a big knife).  Though in pain, she still managed to summon up a few forced laughs.  For the life of me, I can't remember if she got killed or not after that.

That's all I remember.
