After many years of having it on my "need to see" list, I finally got around to purchasing and watching GET CARTER. This is by far the most vicious character Michael Caine has portrayed in his long career. His sadistic side sort of "sneaks up" on you because most of the movie is a lot of dialogue as he pieces together the mystery behind his brother's death, but suddenly, in the final 30 minutes or so, he unleashes his fury on a few unfortunate hoodlums. He slaps women around and beats the crap out of men with equal vigor. And I especially liked the ending. Recommended. The screenplay is here:
