Stephen "Flounder" Furst plays a retarded baby in a diaper in cinema's finest example of a retarded baby in a diaper. Although it has been said many times before, I cannot help reiterate the quality of the performance Furst gave in playing a retarded baby in a diaper locked in a basement, the product of brother/sister incest. It's an exquisite feast of acting comparable to Brando playing a broken father to Caan's bullet ridden body, or Kinski staring wildly at his raft filled with monkeys. The movie begins as a fairly standard slasher with two of the three women being easily dispatched within the first 45 minutes of the film by an unseen killer, but it isn't until we actually see the retarded baby in a diaper locked in the basement that the movie reveals its full and true quality.

I feel stuck writing this review because all I can focus on is this retarded baby-man. The movie has many other positive aspects and many negative ones, but all are washed away by the power of the retarded baby. Since I can't seem to write about anything else I'll cut this short and simply say watch this movie because, well, it has the best retarded baby in a diaper you'll ever see.

Try as I might, I cannot resist the urge to go for the obvious joke here:

Hey man...that sounds retarded.

Hey, I just watched this a couple of days ago. Not bad at all. I enjoyed Sydney Lassick's (sp?) performance, and his wife who is constantly on the verge of crying throughout the entire movie. Lassick would resurface much later in the classic Cool As Ice, but I didn't need to mention that here, right?  Cheers

Seriously, if this is the film with Barbara Bach, directed by the immortal Peter Foleg, I remember it as seriously creeping me out as a teen.  Buggedout

Yes, please don't mention that title. I actually got an enquiry about it a few months ago: someone was looking for it on DVD and was most upset when I checked IMDB and told him it was only available on VHS. He even asked me to buy it for him!  Buggedout

Voltron, did you happen to see The Unseen in Austin Texas at the midnight screening? Those midnight screenings are killer. Twice a week a 35mm screening of a great bad movie takes place in front of a packed theatre. This week is Pumpkinhead and I can't wait.

Scottie, I only wish I could have been at the midnight screening, it sounds awesome. Unfortunately, I live in sh*tty @ss New Waterford, Nova Scotia. The local theater only plays new movies, and the town's only video shop just shut down (no biggie, it sucked anyway).
