Must have caffeine...

« on: September 19, 2008, 06:44:56 PM »

I just randomly thought of an old movie I saw as a kid. It was animated, and in fact looked a bit anime-ish to be honest. It involved these two kids, a boy and a girl, I think, somehow winding up in prehistoric times. They adopt a baby triceratops which they name "Babypuss" (or something to that effect).

I also remember it had a downer ending, namely, Babypuss dies protecting the kids from a T-rex and they fall off a cliff together (Babypuss and the T-rex I mean).

I know it exists. I remember finding the title, somehow, on the Web, but I've since forgotten it and I'd really like to remember what it was called. I've begun undertaking an epic quest to acquire all of the animated films (good and bad) I watched as a kid.

(I may have asked this one before on here, I forget...)

Might help if we knew what time frame the movie was; we don't know how old you were as a kid.

Here's a list of 100 animated dinosaur films:

http://www.imdb.com/keyword/dinosaur/?genre=animation

You might try looking at the ones that fit the time frame.

Hey,
Thank you all for helping out, but it was non of the movies above (also those on the IMDB search).
This movies has to be somewhat known. I had it as a kid dubbed on a video tape. So it had to have some recognition in its time.

btw when I say I had it dubbed - I mean I had it dubbed somewhere in the beginning of the 90's. Generally, relatively famous films were dubbed to different languages back then. There's no way no one knows it ):

Solved! Age of the Great Dinosaurs
Stradog over at 80s cartoons.net tells me the following:

"Age of the Great Dinosaurs (79)
(a.k.a..Daikyoryu no Jidai)

A flying saucer takes three kids, a boy Jun, a girl Remi,
and her little brother Chobi back to the Cretaceous period.
Once there they learn how to survive, and deal with their
main adversary, a large Tyrannosaurus that stalks them.

Kooshmeister has not checked in for about a month (he does that at times).  It sure looks like you found the right film.  I was going to leave it here for a little while before making a judgement call and moving it to Solved.
